Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is already giving fans a reason to lock in their copy early. Activision has confirmed that Campaign Early Access begins Friday, October 16, letting digital pre-order players step into the story before the worldwide launch. If you're planning to practise hard, compare loadouts, or even look into Modern Warfare 4 Boosting once the game's wider grind begins, this early campaign window should give you a useful head start on the tone, weapons, and pacing of the new entry.

Early access and supported platforms
The offer is tied to digital purchases only, so boxed-copy players won't get this particular perk. To qualify, players need to pre-order or pre-purchase either the Standard Digital Edition or the Vault Edition. The access list is broad, which is good news if your squad is split across systems. Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, Battle.net, and Steam are all included. Activision has also confirmed a Nintendo Switch 2 version, though pre-orders for that edition are set to open later in the year.

A war story split between the front line and the shadows
The campaign runs under the banner "No Line Holds Forever," and it sounds like Modern Warfare 4 is leaning into a colder, harsher kind of conflict. One side of the story follows Private Park, a young South Korean soldier thrown into combat before he's ready for it. What starts as a standard military assignment breaks apart when North Korea launches a full invasion. Streets collapse into battle zones, units get cut off, and Park's first real taste of war becomes a fight to stay alive with his squad.
  • Campaign Early Access begins on Friday, October 16.
  • Players must buy a qualifying digital edition to join early.
  • The campaign follows Private Park during a sudden invasion.
  • Captain Price returns as an outlaw working outside official command.
  • Combat shifts between large battles, covert operations, and tight room-clearing missions.

Price is back, but not as the man players remember
Captain Price's return may be the part long-time fans talk about most. He isn't simply back in uniform, taking orders and leading a clean mission. This time, he's operating outside the system, chasing revenge and moving through the kind of work nobody wants written down. His hunt points toward a weapon powerful enough to change the balance between nations. That setup gives the campaign a second rhythm: less about holding a line, more about making ugly choices when nobody's watching.

What players should expect from the campaign
Modern Warfare 4 seems built around contrast. One mission may push you through a wider battlefield with armour, air support, and chaos on every side. The next could drop you into a dark hallway with night vision, a suppressed weapon, and barely enough time to breathe. That mix is exactly where the series usually feels sharpest. Players who care about progression, preparation, or services like MW4 Boosting will likely find the early campaign useful for learning the game's feel before multiplayer takes over the conversation.
